Anthropic

Claude-User

Fetches that a person triggers from Claude, as distinct from the ClaudeBot crawl.

Who runs it
Anthropic
robots.txt token
Claude-User
User-agent
See the operator's documentation for the current full string.

Anthropic documents the token Claude-User for user-triggered fetches. The full user-agent string changes with their article. Copy it from there if a firewall must match the whole string. IndexDoctor's free check does not live-probe Claude-User.

Claude-User is not ClaudeBot. Anthropic lists it for requests a person initiates, such as asking Claude to read a page.

If you want a robots.txt rule, the token to name is Claude-User. Read Anthropic's article for how that fetch treats robots.txt before you rely on the file alone.

The free check live-fetches Googlebot, GPTBot, and ClaudeBot. It does not send a Claude-User request. Read your robots.txt yourself for a Claude-User group.

Questions

Why is there no full user-agent on this page?
Anthropic's article is the source of the string. Quoting a stale string would make a firewall rule miss.
